Meet Cheerful Mandy

Hello there, my name is Mandy. When I stay home or play out, everybody likes to make friends with me. They’re all saying I’m an extremely friendly doggie, get along well with any size of dogs, children and even strangers. Well, yes, this is who I am. For me, the world is full of excitement and adventure. But somehow, no one wants to offer me a shelter to call Home in Taiwan.

I was born as a stray, my native mommy left me at a junk yard when I was 2 months old. When I was hungry, I went to the leftover area to feed myself with stinky food. If I was bored, there were plenty trash and recycles to play. I once got a chance to be adopted. But due to some elderly suspicion, no one wanted to adopt a black dog with white socks at home regardless how friendly and cute I was. Since then, the junk yard was my home. When I grew bigger and bigger, those people once thought I was cute just stopped to come to see me. Sometimes when they past by me, they just pretended they didn’t know me and totally ignore my presence like they had never known me. I was pretty upset and wondering why. Until one day I was really sick and got tired of being alone, a stranger came toward me. She petted me nicely and handed some fresh food to feed me. By looking at her sad eyes, I was thinking this must be my last meal, I probably would be gone soon….. I slowly gabbled the food with sadness and ready to walk away. The stranger suddenly put a collar on me and asked me to go with her. I was so surprised and freezed for few seconds. But her intension was clear. If I didn’t go with her, for sure, I’d die here and buried under the trash that no one would recognize my existence.

I was soon taken to an animal hospital for checkups. The Vet gave me so shots and medicine to cure my illness. He said, as long as I stopped eating rotten food and drinking stinky water, I’d be fine. Start that day; I stayed with my rescuer, so is my foster mom until now. I never need to worry about being hungry nor be alone. Instead, I become a confident and socialized dog that bring lots of joy to everyone. Furthermore, I am housetrained, well behaved to earn lots of snuggles from friendly people. Life has changed from the moment my rescuer took me out of the junk yard. I’m very grateful and hoping there is a family out there that doesn’t mind I am a black doggie wearing white socks. It’s my signature and I’m proud of it. Please visit www.ahan.org to view “Mandy’s” videos, click “APPLY” to fill out online application.
